Underbool Bowls Notes

Social Bowls on Saturday April 2nd, those attending played Pairs, with Alan Stone and Raelene Winslow declared winners. A farewell presentation and best wishes were made that evening to long term members Rodney (Toby) and Judy Lynch who have relocated to Mildura.

Congratulations to Raelene Winslow on winning the Underbool Bowls B Grade Championship for 2015/16 and to Bernadette Stone as Runner/Up.

Congratulations also to Marie Cummings on winning the Club 100 up Championship yet again. Runner/up Bernadette Stone.

Well done to Steve Simmonds who won the Men’s 100 up Championship and Col Lockett Runner/Up. Congratulations to Steve Simmonds also on gaining his Coaching Accreditation, surely a great asset to any club.

Jenny Stone, Noelene Crow, Jenni Boseley and John Cummings represented Underbool at the recent Betty McGauchie Star Day at Coomealla. No wins but very well played.

Presentation and President’s Day combined made for a great final wind up on Saturday 9th April for Underbool Club bowlers. Having to dig out and use our old style bowls made for much jollity, more muscle and “taking more grass”!

Steve Simmonds and Colleen Gloster won Roll to the Ditch. Big winners of the day were Steve Simmonds, Nita Wandel, Jeni Boseley and Alan Willsmore. Runners/Up John Cummings, Colleen Gloster, Raelene Winslow and Wendy Stone.

President Robert Gloster presented all Championship winners of the Season with the various Trophies and thanked all who contributed to the smooth running of the Club throughout the Season. An enjoyable meal of meats and delicious salads, followed by slices brought to a close a most successful year. Good days on the greens to those of the Club who are going on to play in various district Carnivals in the next few weeks.

Underbool Recreation Reserve- Defibrillator

The Underbool Recreation Reserve committee, in conjunction with the Underbool Bowls Club (as auspice) has recently been successful in obtaining an Automated External Defibrillator package through the Victorian Government Defibrillators for Sporting Clubs and Facilities Program2015-2016- Round One. The defibrillator will be housed permanently at the Underbool Recreation Reserve in an external location for use by all members of the community at any time. The Defibrillator package will include training for up to 20 people, as well as maintenance for a period of 6 years. It is hoped that members of the community and recreation reserve user groups will attend the provided defibrillator training, and become familiar with its location and use. Information regarding this will be advertised at a date closer to the delivery of the defibrillator.
