Underbool Bowls Notes

Social President’s Night on Wednesday 13th February was the usual successful evening for the Club. With 20 enjoying a game of bowls and another 8 for the evening meal. Pleasing to have some past bowlers and other visitors attend the evening. Not sure what went on out on the Green, but two of the local constabulary were in the winning teams. Veteran bowler Ray Gloster and Ross Huxtable were winners of the play with 62 points, Col Lockett and Jeff Saville came in runners/up with 55 points. John Cummings and Colleen Gloster drew closest to the Spider. Many thanks to President Robert Gloster for a great night and the very generous prizes.

Thursday afternoon many members were back at the Club again to watch the final of the Men’s Championship Pairs. A most entertaininggame between Steve Simmonds and Col Lockett and Alan Stone and Robert Lester. The scoring was 8 all, 9 all, 10 all, but whilst there was very good bowling from each player, Steve and Col broke away to win the game convincingly in the end.  So Congratulations and top honours to Steve and Col once again and best of bowling at Ouyen, 2nd and 3rd March in the Sunraysia Champion of Champions Pairs play off.

Local men bowlers are reminded of the big working bee commencing Sunday 3rd March to Tuesday 5th March for scarifying, grooming, coring, sanding/screeding the green. Many willing hands will be needed.
