HELP FOR MALLEE TRACK FARMERS

Farmers along the Mallee track who are struggling are being urged to take advantage of a range of support being offered.

While the Mildura Rural City Council is using its $1 million of Drought Communities Fund to assist farmers in the Millewa-Carwarp area due to severity of the drought in that region, Mallee track farmers can still get help.

“There is a range of support for Mallee farmers experiencing different types of hardship due to dry season conditions,” a council spokesperson said.

“These can be accessed through Sunraysia Rural Counselling Service. Or by contacting Agriculture Victoria on 136 186 or by visiting (www.agriculture.vic.gov.au/dryseasons).”

The spokesperson said if the council receives another round of Drought Communities Funds this could provide options to support Mallee farmers.

Underbool Progress Group Inc

The Underbool Progress Group would like to inform the community that there will be an official service to unveil the restoration and upgrade to the WW1 Commemorative Gates at Outen Park, on Friday the 24th of April 2020.

On Saturday 25th of April, we will be having our annual dawn ANZAC march including a service at the gates. More details that are specific to both days will be released soon, look out for these closer to April.

The Progress Group are hoping to set up memorabilia in the hall for both the Friday and Saturday events and we are asking the community if they have any artefacts/photos/medals that they are interest in sharing.

We are also looking for interested volunteers who would like to be part of a committee that will coordinate and set up the display in the Hall.

Please contact Bev on 0401155637 (after 4 pm) if you are interested in being part of the committee or if you have any items to display.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

School News.

Underbool & Tempy Swimming sports 14th February.

The U.P.S hosted its annual swimming sports with Tempy P.S.

Both schools were combined to make two teams. Red Sharks and Blue Fins.

The good weather helped with the day and all of the kids swam beautifully getting them ready for the district swimming sports. Tea, coffee, & a BBQ lunch was organised by the U.P.S P&F club. It’s was great to see, parents, grandparents, friends and relatives come and support the day. The day concluded with a fun relay - parents vs children and a win from the Red Fins team.
