Come and meet the friendly ambulance officer promoting the need for regular health checks, including complimentary tests for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, temperature, heart rhythm/ECG. No appointment needed, just come in.

MRCC Outreach Library
While blustery and cold outside, the library space at the Underbool Linga Hall was cosy on Tuesday 22nd July for those who came to hear Raylene tell of her trip to USA.
She finally met her pen friend of 55 years and together they explored many places of interest including libraries, quilting outlets and some American restaurants, one of which was Outback Steakhouse featuring some ‘Aussie-Tizers’ such as Kookaburra Wings and Bloomin’ Onion.
Raylene visited the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum which is located at his home town of Little Rock – not too far from where she stayed with her pen friend in Arkansas. This museum has permanent exhibits which reflect the day-to-day workings of the White House and the Clinton administration. The Oval Office and White House Cabinet Room are two of the rooms replicated at this museum.
Before concluding, Raylene related some of her experiences while doing her library job accruing many thousands of kilometres as she brought library services to our Mallee Track towns.
All present thanked Raylene and wished her well in her retirement.

Thursday 24th July, 10.15am: Ouyen Library invites new parents, parents/carers and anyone wanting to feel more confident when a health crisis involving young children arises to come to this session. Basic first aid for infants, choking management and key signs to watch for in your child’s health will be included in this presentation by Ambulance Victoria. No bookings required.

Cyber Security Awareness Workshops - Mallee Track Communities
A workshop was held at Underbool Linga Hall on Friday 11th July 5.30pm. It covered how to maintain online security including phones, computers, ipads and any devices where you use internet and phone services. Participants learnt how to spot scams, assess incoming messages, malware, risks of using public WiFi, the importance of strong passwords and two factor identification etc.
It was an excellent presentation and was applicable for all ages. Scammers are very smart and may ‘monitor’ your online activities for some time looking for the opportunity to trick you with a tailored, highly plausible scenario. Everyone using cyber services needs to assess each message they receive to make sure they are genuine especially before responding to the sender and/or clicking on any links in the message.
There will be another workshop offered (date and time TBA) – this one will be delivered ‘online’. Keep a look-out for this opportunity to participate and learn skills to improve your online security.

Pink Lakes Pantry – Volunteers Needed
We would like to thank Jo Goodman and her back up, Fiona Scott, for delivering the bakery goods to Underbool three times a week during the school terms. We don’t know how we’d manage without their help.
As the school holidays are about to begin we are looking for volunteers to bring the bakery goods out from Ouyen on the following dates:
