Description

Mallee Track Health and Community Services (MTHACS) Underbool Centre, (formerly Underbool Bush Nursing Centre) provides a place where visiting health professionals can run a variety of services.

 

Automated External Defibrillation Device (Heart Start)

As of  October 2013 the AED device will be relocated from the Underbool Fire Station to the front entrance of the Mallee Track Service Centre-Underbool.

District Nursing - Please ring Ouyen MTHCs 5092 1111 to discuss your requirements

Pathology collection - As of the week commencing March 23rd, 2015, the Pathology Clinic in Ouyen will have  reduced hours. Hours of operation will be 8.30am till 1pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. The Pathology Clinic will be closed on Wednesdays. This will impact on Pathology collections in Underbool. No pathology collection will be taken on Wednesdays.  Currently pathology collections can be done on Tuesdays at the Underbool Centre by making an appointment with Di Thornton prior to 10.00am. $4 freight charge may apply.  Any changes to these times will be advised in the Underbool Press.

 

Health Check Days

Ambulance Victoria is promoting the need for regular health checks by offering complimentary checks on blood pressure, blood sugar levels, temperature, heart rhythm/ECG at the Mallee Track Health centre Underbool. No bookings required.

Jacob is working in conjunction with Mallee Border Health.

 

If you missed Jacob's first visit on 11th July 2023, he will return in about a month so be on the lookout for the next advertisement and come along to  meet Jacob then.

 

 

Doctor visits - unfortunately no doctor visits to Underbool can be scheduled until two doctors are working at the Ouyen clinic.

Dr Ashraf Takla began service in Ouyen in July 2017 and concluded in November 2018.  A female GP visits Ouyen approximately every 6 weeks and other locum doctors are scheduled, phone 5092 1168 for appointments in Ouyen

Note Dr 'Sunny' Shaheen resigned 25 Jan 2017 Ouyen Clinic.

Maternal & Child Health Nurse (provided through MRCC) - 3rd Monday each month 1.00pm by appointmentTelephone (03) 5018 8277

Travel assistance to medical appointments in Mildura, must be arranged through Ouyen Community Link - phone 5092 2133 to book.

Meals on Wheels Delivered to Centre on Thursday morning. Phone the community nurse for information about the service and delivery arrangements.

*Meet & Greet get together for a meal with other eligible senior citizens at the Underbool Recreation Reserve once a month on Tuesdays. Contact Community Link  5092 2133 for information.

Podiatrist - phone 5092 1111 for appointments in Ouyen.

*PAG (Planned Activity Group) for ladies: opportunity to socialise with other women, do some craft, attend outings  to places of interest now and then, or just have a chat and a cuppa. Wednesdays 10.30am - 12pm

*Men's PAG group will be held Tuesdays 11am at the Underbool Linga Hall   Cost $10.00 includes lunch

Outreach Worker , to be appointed to support you  Contact 50921111 if you require assistance or support.

Outreach Worker will be a point of contact for ‘Mallee Track ‘communities as someone who can support you to identify and access health and community services. Ideally this worker will be spending regular time at the Underbool Bush Nursing Centre and other MTHCS programs, once it is safe to do so with respect to Covid issues.

At times, health care can seem challenging. Especially in rural areas when medical support can feel like a long way from home. The Outreach Worker can be someone to chat to, help you find information, or connect you with a health care professional to suit your needs.

  • Understand health concerns, challenges or issues
  • Give you more confidence to advocate for your own or a family member’s needs
  • Help you to navigate the health and community service system
  • Help support your access to the My Aged Care system or NDIS
  • Help support access to equipment hire

MTHCS will run a circuit based exercise program for anyone interested from Wednesday 24th August 2016 at the Underbool Linga Hall commencing at 1pm. The circuit will be suitable for anyone with the aim to improve general physical activity levels. Remember to wear comfy clothes, runners or closed shoes and bring a drink with you. Cost is $5      currently in recess

 

Gentle strength building exercises - weekly on Thursday 1.30 - 2.30pm suitable for all (held at Underbool Linga Hall) not running currently

 Mother's Group - Currently in recess  alternate Wednesdays 1.00 - 3.00 pm... a time to talk and allow young children to play together.    contact Prue Lynch 50946489
