Pink Lakes Pantry – Footy Tipping Notice
Well, that’s it for season 2026 and what a season it’s been. I am happy to announce that we will be having our Annual Windup on Friday 4th September at the Underbool Bowls Club. This will commence at 5.30pm and all Tippers and their family and friends are welcome to come and join us for drinks (bought from the Bar) and nibbles (supplied). This will be followed by the announcements of the Winner, Runner Up and the Wooden Spooner for Season 2026. It would be appreciated if you could text me if you are intending to attend and anyone else who is coming along for the evening for catering purposes. Thank you all once again for participating.

Underbool Bowls Notes:
Thursday 20th August, the DJ's Ladies travelled to Workers and recorded a win over Red Cliffs.
Saturday, 22nd August - what a good turn-around from last week, with a win in both Division 3 & 4.
Division 3 journeyed to Merbein, where they enjoyed lunch at the Merbein Club, then finished the day winning all three rinks.
Division 4 travelled to Red Cliffs where they also had lunch together at the Red Cliffs Club.
Noelene's rink had a convincing win 36/10. The other rink, skipped by Wendy (with the team finding the rink rather difficult to read) went down by three shots, but a good win overall.
There are quite a few Star Days coming up which will keep us all busy.

MRCC Outreach Library
The library’s next visit to Underbool will be on Tuesday 1st September, 11am – 1pm. Come along to the Underbool Linga all and find what is available to you through this service.

MTHCS have recommenced exercises at the Underbool-Linga Memorial Hall on Tuesdays at 2pm.
Exercises are suitable for all abilities /ages.

Underbool Bowls Club
Here we go again, the beginning of a new Bowls season for 2026/27 for the Sunraysia playing area,
with the DJ Memorial Ladies Pennant and Midweek Pennant already started early August.
Weekend Pennant kicked off on Saturday the 15th August.
However, leading up to the beginning of a new season we held our Annual General Meeting on the 15th of June. After a leading the Club for a few years, Col Lockett has stepped down and Noelene Crow
has gallantly put up her hand to lead the Club as President for the new season. Congratulations Noelene, you know you have the full support of all your loyal Members. Rob Gloster was elected to
support Noelene as Senior Vice President and another relative newby but very keen Lyn Pryse as Junior Vice President. Our super efficient Jennifer Wakefield resumes the important mantle of Secretary with Jenny Stone her Assistant. Long term Treasurer Raelene Winslow continues in the Treasurer’s position.
Outgoing President Colin highlighted the upgrades, improvements and purchases made over recent years to further enhance our wonderful sporting facility.
We are all volunteers and many of the improvements make life a little bit easier to keep the facility pristine and a nice environment for the wider community.
The Ladies have again entered a team in the DJ Memorial Competition and have completed 2 rounds all ready, we wish them all the best for an enjoyable season in that format.
Saturday the 15th August was the opening round of weekend Pennant, and we have once again entered a Division 3 and a Division 4 side in that competition. Early start this season as the majority want to complete the Pennant season prior to Christmas. It wasn’t the ideal start for either division even though both teams were playing at home on our own turf. Div.3 welcomed Mildura 3, who took us down on all rinks with a losing scoreline of 40/67 shots. Div 4 went down to Coomealla2, 29/44 shots but Jennifer Wakefield’s rink salvaged a 17/13 shot victory giving Underbool 2 points. Regardless of the scores, the sun was shining, the competition enjoyable and as usual the BBQ tea that evening was excellent. We trust all Members enjoy a wonderful season of bowls, good health and safe travels between events.

Elaine, Murray, Gaylene, Peter, and Noel wish to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended Jack’s funeral, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us.
For the many beautiful messages, phone calls, cards, and flowers, we thank you sincerely.

- Pam Nelson: For showing so much love, support, and conducting a service filled with true compassion and kindness.
- The Underbool Ladies Guild: For catering the lovely tea, coffee, and delicious food after the service.
- Courtney Brennan & Kate Lockett: For safely driving Elaine from Ouyen to Underbool, out to the farm, and back home to Ouyen. Your efforts were so deeply appreciated.
- The MTHCS Nursing Staff: For the immense love, care, kindness, and support you gave to Jack during his time in care. We also extend a warm thank you to the staff who helped Elaine get ready, and to Billy for doing her hair.
- McGlynn & Hunt Funeral Directors: For taking such dignified care of the funeral arrangements, with a special thank you to Cassie for your endless help, support, and patience.
To anyone else who helped us in any way that we may have missed, please accept our sincere thanks.
We know Jack would have been incredibly proud of the send-off we all gave him from a town he called home for 100 years.

Without a new committee, the Progress Group will be unable to continue operating, which will have significant impacts on our community.

Pink Lakes Pantry
There is a selection of Underbool Primary School Excursion and School Camp booklets dating back to 1996 to 2010 and a trip to Hattah in 2017, on display in the shop. These are in the stand between the freezers.
These booklets contain lots of amazing photos and stories written by students (pages are mostly laminated). Past students and parents are invited to check them out and please feel free to take any photos of yourselves or your children or just have a read. The books are all bound with plastic binding, making it easy to remove individual pages.
We hope you enjoy looking back on these amazing memories.
