Bowls Notes

The Bowls Club hosted their annual Triples Tournament on Sunday which was another huge success. We had 72 players play, with teams represented from 14 visiting clubs.

Pennant this Saturday we have both 3rd & 4th Divisions playing at home.

3rd Division play Red Cliffs.

The Underbool Progress Group is pleased to announce the grand opening of the historic Underbool Police Lock-Up.

Join in the Library’s ‘Police in Underbool History 1930-1940’ talk by guest Heath Comrie, on Tuesday 28th October 2025 at 11:15am

 

At 12.30pm come to the wayside stop on Cotter Street where a short official opening ceremony of the Lockup display inside the old cell, will be held at the police lock-up.

Light refreshments to be provided at Spiilt Milk following the opening.

 

Brass band photos, programs, news clips etc

Do you have any Ouyen Brass Band memorabilia that we could scan, copy, & digitise for our history records.

Please could you put your items in an envelope/bag clearly labelled with your name and contact number and leave at the MRCC office Monday - Friday or at the History & Genealogy Centre when open on Fridays.

Please include any details you have relating to the items you leave. After we have recorded them, you will be contacted when they are ready for you to collect

Seniors Festival

The Victorian Seniors Festival is a statewide initiative that celebrates ageing positively throughout the month of October and recognises the important contribution older people make to our community.

The Festival is an annual event and is an opportunity for people over 55 to learn what activities are available to them and to join clubs and groups in the local community.
[NB many events are open to community members of all ages.]

Mildura Rural City Council proudly presents a local program of events to mark the festival each year that embraces the theme Connect, Create, Celebrate.

Brass band members will warmly welcome you and offer a chance to try brass instruments, guiding you as you explore making sounds. A selection of percussion instruments may also be available for hands-on fun.

Observe the brass band any time during their practice session between 7pm to 8pm.

A great opportunity to discover music in an inviting, supportive setting for all ages.

Underbool Lockup and Police History Revealed! – Tuesday 12.30pm, 28 October

FREE at Underbool Lockup Cell, Cotter Street Underbool

This event is the official opening of the police history display that has been developed within the lockup cell and directly follows on from Heath Comrie’s talk at the Underbool Library. Speeches will give an overview of the project, outlining the background and history relating to the Lockup cell.

After this, people will be welcome to explore the history display inside the cell and talk to visiting police officers and members of the Progress Group. Sign the visitors book and enjoy some light refreshments.

Bowls Notes

We had Pennant at home last Saturday with mixed results. 

3rd Division went down by 10 shots overall to Euston, losing 2 rinks and 1 rink winning. 

4th Division fared better against Coomealla winning by 1 shot overall, with 1 rink winning by 11 shots & the other going down by 10 shots.

Pennant next Saturday, 3rd Division has a bye. 

Division 4 side play Mildura 6 at Mildura.

Join the library session Tuesday 28th October 2025 at 11am for a cuppa and chat prior to Heath Comrie’s presentation of police history in Underbool 1920-1940, at the Underbool Linga Hall, 14 Malkin Ave Underbool.


At 12.30pm come to the Wayside Stop (on west side of the public toilets) for a short opening ceremony at the police lock-up and perusal of the history displayed inside.
