Underbool Press

The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our typists, delivery people and the staff at the Underbool Post Office, Pink Lakes Pantry and School for their help during 2019.

If anyone would like to take a turn at typing and printing the press in 2020 (approx. four times a year) please contact Sonia McVicar (50946456) or Helen Gloster (50946305). If any of our current typists are no longer able to help in 2020 please let us know before the roster is drawn up.

The first edition of the Underbool Press for 2020 will come out on Wednesday the 29th January and the typist will be Helen Gloster (dhgloster@bigpond.com).

Underbool Bowls News

The Men’s Singles Club Championship between Steve Simmonds and Alan Stone was played on Sunday 15^th. December at 4pm. There was a great show of support from Club members who by the end of the game were sitting on the edge of their seats in excitement.

What a game! Steve won the toss and quickly progressed to take a good lead. But that Stone determination emerged and Alan settled in to make the score 13 all after 17 ends. After 30 ends the pair were 23 all, then Alan scored 1 on the next end to take the score to 24/23. The last end Alan was holding 2 shots in the head, when Steve drew in two beautiful bowls to take the game 25/24. Thank you Steve and Alan for a most entertaining game and best wishes to Steve when he plays in the Champion of Champions at Euston 4^th and 5^th. January 2020.

Good to see Secretary Howard Crothers arrive back home in time to watch the match after knee replacement surgery.

Social Bowls on Saturday 14^th December, 12 bowlers played Pairs with Steve Simmonds and Anne Stone 3 game winners of the day. A BBQ tea was enjoyed by all in attendance. Special welcome to Murray Lockett who played and acquitted himself very well. We hope to see you continue playing Murray.

It will be a big night on Wednesday 18^th. December for the Christmas Twilight. Many from the Ouyen Bowls Club will be joining us, so please bring a bigger salad. As the weather is going to be hot, tea will be approximately 6.30pm followed by an evening of bowls. Get your names in early to assist with catering.
