Update on our community petition supporting the installation of a toilet at Outen Park (which was scheduled in 2015/2016 Capital Work’s Program), please note July MRCC Council meeting agenda :

Agenda Item 13.7 Outen Park Public Toilets July 28 Ordinary Council meeting: Council’s position is that

“Council is currently developing a Public Toilet Facilities Strategy. Any new facilities, refurbishments and up-grades will be considered as part of the Strategy.”

The discussion in the agenda notes that in the interim toilets are available at the Public Hall and Swimming Pool (for pool users during operating hours), which incorrectly infers that these are available to Outen Park users. UPG committee wrote to all councillors prior to the meeting to correct this misrepresentation.

A toilet at Outen Park has been discussed by community members and raised with council over some years (Outen Park committee had raised this issue and in 2008 the committee were feeling confident from discussions with MRCC that a toilet would be installed)

At the Council meeting on July 28 2016, there was no discussion of the issue. The recommendation (quoted below) as presented in the Agenda was moved by Cr Brown, 2nd Cr Arnold and carried:

“That Council:

(i) consider the petition regarding public toilet facilities (Outen Park Underbool) as part of development and consultation process for the Public Toilet Facilities Strategy; and (ii) notify the first named petitioner accordingly.”

The complete Agenda Item 13.7 can be read on the council website -use this link in your internet browser: http://www.mildura.vic.gov.au/Publications/Agendas-Minutes-for-Council-Meetings

Library Services: Public consultation meetings re. proposed changes are likely to be held in October. Please think about how proposed changes will affect this community and any suggestions/comments you would like to make on this issue.
